Carpet tape is a very useful tool when you need it. However remember that it will leave a hot mess on the attached items if you aren't careful. So basically don't use it unless you want the stuck item to be stuck FOREVER!!!!
Just a side note. I get really sad when I take my Christmas decorations down.
